Soroptimist House
Over the years community needs have changed and so has the role of the Soroptimist House.
The Soroptimist House at 1350 E. Washington was the result of a dream to provide a safe haven for abused children in Rockwall County. First land was donated, then a house and finally the funds to move the house. Club members worked tirelessly to raise donations of money, supplies and assistance to renovate the house.
It has been used as a counseling center by the Rockwall Child and Family Guidance program, a variety of youth programs by the Rockwall County Juvenile Services Department, housed the Rockwall County Extension office, home to previous service project Eloise's Closet and housed Women In Need, a local domestic violence agency.
It is now the home of the Children's Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, which is one of our main service projects. Soroptimists have subsidized the rent and utilities from the very beginning of the project. We will continue to raise funds, volunteer, and assist the CAC in any way we can to help provide much needed services to the children of Rockwall County who are victims of sexual abuse, assault, and neglect. We are very proud to be a Founding Member of the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County.
