Soroptimist House
Over the years community needs have changed and so has the role of the Soroptimist House.
The Soroptimist House at 1350 E. Washington was the result of a dream to provide a safe haven for abused children in Rockwall County. First land was donated, then a house and finally the funds to move the house. Club members worked tirelessly to raise donations of money, supplies and assistance to renovate the house.
It has been used as a counseling center by the Rockwall Child and Family Guidance program, and for a variety of youth programs by the Rockwall County Juvenile Services Department. It currently houses the offices of the Rockwall County Extension Service.
A new renovation project is in the works for the Soroptimist House, after which it will again be used by the club for meetings and service projects. |
